SearviaBot

SearviaBot is the crawler of Searvia, a search visibility service. It reads public pages so Searvia customers can audit their own sites, compare competitors and see which sites link to each other.

How to Recognise It

Every request uses this user agent:

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; SearviaBot/1.0; +https://searvia.com/bot)

What It Does

  • It follows robots.txt. Rules for "SearviaBot" apply first, otherwise the rules for all crawlers (*).
  • It sends at most one request per second to the same host and slows down when a server answers 429 or 503.
  • It reads only public pages: no forms, no logins, no shopping carts, no private network addresses.
  • It does not run ads, collect personal data or sell your content. The pages it reads are used for site audits and the Searvia link index.

How to Block It

Add these lines to the robots.txt file at the root of your site. SearviaBot reads robots.txt again within a day.

User-agent: SearviaBot
Disallow: /

Site audits that site owners start in Searvia follow the same rules, so blocked paths are not audited either.

How to Verify It

Anyone can copy a user agent. If you see heavy traffic that says it is SearviaBot, email us the IP address and time and we will tell you whether it was us.
