Find keywords that are easy to rank for
Golden keywords are popular, not too hard and relevant to your app. Here is how to find and use them.
About 3 minutes
What You Need
- An app project with tracked keywords
- 1
Sort by Opportunity
Project › Keywords › Opportunity
On the Keywords tab, click the Opportunity column. Opportunity is popularity × (1 − difficulty²): high demand that is still winnable.
- 2
Show Golden Keywords
Click the Golden button above the table. A keyword is golden when popularity is at least 30, difficulty at most 45, it is not another company’s brand and it is relevant to your app.
- 3
Check the Difficulty
Hover the difficulty badge to see why: ratings of the top apps, how many use the keyword in their title, app age and update dates.
- 4
Put Them in Your Metadata
Open the Metadata tab and write suggestions: golden keywords are placed first. Then pack your keyword field.
What You Get
A short list of keywords where a small metadata change can move you onto the first screen.
Troubleshooting and Questions
- Why is a brand keyword never golden?
- Ranking for another company’s brand rarely converts, and Apple may reject brand names in your metadata.
